• Los pronombres objeto no pueden realizar la función de sujeto; pueden ser el objeto directo, el objeto indirecto, o bien aparecer detrás de una preposición (agente, objeto indirecto, objeto preposicional, o modificador indirecto en un sintagma nominal o preposicional)
  
  En inglés hay un pronombre objeto por cada pronombre sujeto:

  En español hay varios pronombres objeto por cada pronombre sujeto, que varían dependiendo de la función que realizan (objeto directo, indirecto, o después de una preposición):

  him = le, lo, a él

• Los pronombres objeto se pueden colocar detrás del verbo (cuando funcionan como objeto directo u objeto indirecto), o bien aparecer después de una preposición (antes o después del verbo):
