    Vocabulary work

  1. Download and print the materials for unit 7.

  2. Read the class notes in this worksheet about the use of TOO & ENOUGH

    in rephrasing exercises.

  3. Do exercises 1 and 2 on page 1 of this unit's materials at home.

  4. Use the answer key to correct your exercises.

    Write down any questions or problems and bring them to class.

  5. Revise your answers with your teacher's help.

  7. Read the class notes in this worksheet about the use of WOULD RATHER

    and various kinds of connectors in rephrasing exercises.

  8. Revise the class notes with your teacher's help if necessary.

  9. Do exercise 3 on page 2 of this unit's materials.

  17. Vocabulary work 2

  18. Choose a topic related to one of these issues which is interesting for you.

    Here are some sample topics about hobbies, holidays and health:
    • travelling
    • lodgings
    • outdoor activities
    • adventure sports
    • obesity
    • dieting
    • eating disorders (i.e., food-related diseases): anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder
    • exercising
    • drug use
    • sport

  19. Find an interesting text about it on the Internet (150-200 words long)

    and copy that text onto a text file.

  20. Choose 10 words that are directly related to that topic.

    Replace those words with gaps in the text.
    Add a list of the words you deleted from the text.

  21. Send your teacher your text with gaps and the list of words for the gaps.

    Don't forget to include a link to the source of your text.

  22. Do a classmates' exercise.

    Choose one or more exercises about other topics that interest you from your classmates' vocabulary exercises and do it for homework.

  23. Voluntary homework: write a review.

    You can send your teacher a message about one of the exercises you did.

  25. Do exercise 6 on page 4 of this unit's materials to practise mixed rephrasing.


  26. Exam practice

  27. You can download some official exams from previous years to practise at home.

    Some of them have an answer key.
    Write down any questions or problems to ask your teacher in class.

  28. Ask your teacher to help you with problems or alternative answers

    which you think might be correct.

  29. Choose an exam to work with next day from the full list).

    Ask your teacher to leave a copy for you at the photocopies room,
    or download it and print it at home.

  30. Practise doing the exam.

    You can do the reading, phonetics and grammar section, or the composition.
