EXPRESIONES DE TIEMPO

Las expresiones de tiempo cambian a menudo en estilo indirecto, dependiendo de cuánto tiempo haya pasado desde que se dijo algo hasta que se repitió en estilo indirecto. Si sólo han pasado unas horas, no suelen cambiar, pero si ha pasado más de un día, cambiarán expresiones como "hoy", "mañana" o "hace dos días", y si ha pasado más tiempo cambiarán expresiones que se refieren a período más largos, como "el mes pasado" o "dentro de dos años".

En esta tabla puedes consultar cómo cambia cada expresión de tiempo:

⁽¹⁾ IMPORTANTE:

• "Next Tuesday" quiere decir "el martes que viene", y siempre se refiere al futuro inmediato:
  
  
  We have an exam next Tuesday.
  → Tuesday next week (está claro que me refiero al próximo martes).
  
  
  Lo mismo pasa con expresiones como "next week", "next month", "next year"...
  
  
• "The next Tuesday" quiere decir "el martes siguiente"; no está claro a qué martes se refiere: puede referirse tanto a un futuro remoto como al pasado:
  
  
  We met our tutor on the first day, and we had an exam the next Tuesday.
  = ...tuvimos un examen el martes siguiente.
  → last September, at the beginning of the school year
  
  The last day of lessons will be on the 15th of June, and we'll have the final exam the next Tuesday. = ...tendremos el examen final el martes siguiente.
  → next June, at the end of the school year.
