After years of unheeded warnings by astronomers that this could happen, a meteorite finally crashed against the Earth last week, crushing the city of Washington DC in the United States. The following day, several more meteorites crashed all over the planet. The main impacts took place on the 300 most important cities in the world, including the capital cities of all countries and many other important cities, like New York, Los Angeles, Sidney, or Ciudad Real, but that is not the worst part.

After two days of terror, a message was received all over the world, coming from outer space. The message informed the surviving governments of the Earth that an alien spaceship was responsible for throwing the meteorites against the Earth, which explains why only major cities suffered direct impacts.

Apparently, the aliens had been observing humans for a long time, and they had decided that the universe will better off without us: we are always fighting each other, destroying the plants and animals, wasting natural resources and polluting our planet and the space around it. They have decided they cannot afford to let us leave our planet and spread this way of life throughout the galaxy. The logical conclusion is that they have to stop humans from leaving the Earth.

Today, the attacks have stopped. The aliens are going back to their own planet, but they have left behind a number of alien criminals, sentenced to 20 years imprisonment on an alien planet. Their prison terms include a reduction of the sentence if they finish cleaning the planet of all human survivors, so they are only too happy to kill any humans they can find. Luckily, they have no weapons, so they have to do that with their bare hands — only their hands are huge masses of bone that can crush a person's head with a single blow.

The alien ship will come back in 10 years to rescue the surviving convicts, and to see if we have become extinct or we have managed to survive and prosper into a friendlier species.
Serious Sam 3

destroyed_city_by_shadowyingzhi-d3ee065.jpg Civilization as we know it has collapsed, and staying in towns and villages is increasingly dangerous, but a small group of survivors want to set up a colony in a remote area of the planet, trying to establish the foundation for a new world government that will help humans survive through the coming years.

The colony is situated in what used to be a national park, near the town of Daimiel.

You and your friends have decided to join the colony in Daimiel, but the trip will surely be dangerous.

Travelling in small groups is safer than in one big group, so you should put together a team.

destroyed_city_by_shadowyingzhi-d3ee065.jpg In each team there must be at least four people:
  • A medic (a doctor or a nurse) who has basic medical skills
  • A fighter with experience in martial arts
  • Another fighter who can use firearms or other weapons
  • A survival expert with knowledge and experience of how to survive in the wild.

  • The rest of the members of the team will have no defined role, but do as they are told by the others.
  • There must be no more than 8 people in each team.

  • You must also choose a team leader. Whenever there is a tie in a vote, the leader's decision is final.

RULES
  • The alien convicts that have been assigned to Spain can detect a person speaking Spanish from a long way off, but not if you speak English. You will lose 2 points if you speak Spanish during your journey to Daimiel.

  • After each scene there is a question you must answer with a full conditional sentence.

  • Your team members will take turns to raise a hand and answer the question. All the answers have to be completely different. The first person to raise a hand will speak first, so it pays to think fast!

  • The team members with no specific function will have to answer the first few questions. After that, a different member will have to answer the next question. When everyone has answered at least one question, another round begins in the same way. The points will be added to the personal score of the team member who answered it.

  • Every sentence you say must be grammatically correct, and also logical and imaginative. You will earn personal points for saying correct sentences which are different from the other teams' answers. Depending on how imaginative your answer is, your teacher will award you 1 to 3 points (there is no point arguing). A wrong sentence will cost you 1 point.

  • In dangerous situations, team members with fewer points will be more likely to fall victim to the aliens. In the case of a tie, you must throw your dice: the one with the lowest number will lose one point.
