SAXON GENITIVE

a) Notice how we use the Saxon genitive in English:

1.- We identify a possessor and a possessed thing.
2.- We use «'s» instead of «of» to transform the name of the possessor into a possessive adjective.
3.- We place the noun after the possessive adjective, and we omit «the» in front of the noun.

We always omit «the» before the noun, but we can use other determiners, including «the», before the possessive adjective:

If the possessor is in the plural and ends in an -s, we only use the apostrophe, but we do not add another -s:
