As you can see, the verb ends in -s when the subject is in the 3rd person singular: he, she, it, or a singular noun phrase.

The verb has the same form for all other subjects.

When the subject is a plural noun phrase, it usually ends in -s, and then the verb has no -s, so the simple rule to learn is:
-s in the subject
or -s in the verb.
