OBJECT PRONOUNS
It is important to remember these rules for the subject and object pronouns:
| Subject pronouns |
singular |
plural |
| 1st person |
I |
we |
| 2nd person |
you |
you |
| 3rd person |
he she it |
they |
- Subject pronouns are always the subject of a sentence.
- They appear in front of the verb (except in interrogatives,
when the word order is Auxiliary + Subject + Verb).
| Object pronouns |
singular |
plural |
| 1st person |
me |
us |
| 2nd person |
you |
you |
| 3rd person |
him her it |
them |
- Object pronouns are never the subject of a sentence.
- They always appear after the verb, or after a preposition.
- They can be part of the subject if they appear after a preposition,
as in this sentence:
The letter for her is on the table.
The subject of this sentence is «the letter for her», and «her» is
an object pronoun because it appears after a preposition.
